Google grant #2

With Professors David Keith and Richard Lucas, we have won a 2016 Google Earth Engine Research Award. This grant will support a software development project using the Google Earth Engine.

Our primary aim is to make remote sensing classifications easier to achieve for users with limited background in remote sensing. In particular, the project is focused on assessing ecosystems against the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems criteria, providing classification tools and simple methods to compute change in the extent of ecosystems over time.

We are committed to making it open source, with all code to be made available on completion of the project. In addition, all data on the changing distributions of threatened ecosystems will be captured in the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems database.
