Habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation threaten ecosystems worldwide. I work directly with the IUCN as a member of the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems global team, which aims to assess the status of all ecosystems on earth. We are currently working with a range of governments, including Madagascar, China, Finland and Australia, to develop national red lists of threatened ecosystems. See more on these projects at the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems website.
Our latest papers on ecosystem risk assessment include describing the development of the categories and criteria (Keith et al., 2015), providing guidance for their implementation (Rodriguez et al., 2015) and implementing them on a range of ecosystem types (such as Murray et al., 2015). We also provide detailed guidance in the guidelines (Bland et al., 2016) and workbooks (Murray et al., 2016).
